Strategy and Management Systems Diagnosis

Diagnosing strategy and management systems, as a separate project, is quite important, as it helps the organization to see the most important challenges that it faces and the steps that need to be taken in response to these challenges.

When and Why Are We Asked to Conduct Diagnosis?

The diagnostic project is usually needed when the managers of the organization come with complaints that may be related, in our opinion, not only to the organizational arrangement, but also to other issues that require more in-depth analysis and resolution.

The Main Stages of The Project

The diagnostic project largely includes conducting individual and anonymous interviews with employees of the organization.

The list of the mentioned employees must be agreed in advance with the management of the organization, and it includes top management, middle managers, and regular employees.

Then we schedule meetings with the interviewees in the appropriate sequence and through pre-defined questionnaires we get all the necessary information from them about the organization’s set-up, main processes, their duties, and daily routines.

We analyze the received information in detail, tie all the necessary components into a single picture, and in this picture, we look for points that may indicate certain challenges in the organization.

Then we select the maximum 10 – in our opinion – the most important problems (challenges) identified through this process and sort them according to priority – starting with the most relevant and ending the list with the least relevant.

Before we start preparing recommendations on the necessary steps to solve the mentioned problems, it is important to share these issues we have seen with the managers of the organization to see how much our views agree in this regard. For this, we hold a separate working meeting with their participation and discuss in detail the essence, importance, and relevance of each of these challenges.

The Outcomes of the Project

The challenges named in the final document prepared by us – the diagnostic report, are usually related to omissions in the strategy, or gaps in the organizational structure, working environment or work approaches in the company, etc.

Continuation of the diagnostic project can be either formation of an organizational structure or help in solving a specific systemic management task. It may also happen that the detailed recommendations given by us consequently to the diagnosis are enough for the organization to clearly see the next steps and independently start implementing the necessary changes.
